After a rollercoaster ride a few months ago, Dongker, the Bandung-based band, is making a comeback with a maxi single featuring Binar. “Luka di Pelupuk Mata” & “Sedih Memandang Mimpi” are the two singles that exude distinct vibes. Kicking off with “Luka di Pelupuk Mata” as the first track, which was co-written with Mohammad Heikal, also known as Binar.
Binar’s musical influence shines through a theatrical tone and vibe in the song. Dongker’s lyrics explore the pain of an unhealthy relationship, cleverly emphasizing it with the recurring line. On the second track, the music takes a much more melancholic turn. It is a sharp distorted lead and marking Dongker’s first acoustic song.
The captivating cover art was created by Teater Tuturupa from Bandung, along with Raka Syahreza. It showcases costumes and performers representing Dongker’s visual style. Originally meant to be part of the Dongker Concert in Bandung, the event got canceled due to the news frenzy surrounding Delpi’s political involvement. These two songs, positioned as the 4th and 5th tracks, will be featured on Dongker’s first full album. The album is scheduled for release towards the end of the third quarter of this year.
