Surabaya’s garage rock trio Electric Bird has just released a new single “Shut It Out” today (03/11). In its production, the single is still assisted by Chitoz, who previously also acted as a producer as well as the mixing and mastering engineer on their debut album Stings You Hard, which was released in 2019. Just like Stings You Hard, “Shut It Out” was also recorded at their vocalist (Danu’s) house.
The single is released alongside a music video, directed by Muzakki. The creation of this clip was actually part of the director’s final project for his bachelor’s degree.
“Shut It Out” is written by Vicky (guitarist) and Danu, while the lyrics are written by Danu who said was mainly inspired by the anxiety that came amidst the disastrous period of the early pandemic in mid-2020, where non-stop obituaries kept flooding the news and our social media timelines.
“Being indifferent by simply turning off the TV or not reading the news of grief and loss without losing empathy for others is enough to just live a normal life and think logically in the midst of a disaster,” wrote the band in a statement.
“Shout It Out” by Electric Bird is now available for streaming on various platforms.
