Joyland Festival 2023 was a blast! A diverse and inclusive, The festival provided so many experiences and entertainments. It was held on the Nusa Dua Peninsula Island in Bali from March 17-19, last week. At first glance, Joyland Festival seemed to be one of the festivals that people were looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. There were so many stages and stalls for people to enjoy, from the lineup of performers to playful booths, delicious food and beverages, art installations, and even the sandy Lily Pad Stage. It opened with Reality Club and ended with Phoenix, providing non-stop excitement from beginning to end. The lineup provided by Joyland Festival was a perfect balance, featuring both popular Indonesian musicians and lesser-known acts from around the world. There were even some performers who were making their debut in Indonesia, such as Sigrid and CHAI.
In the era of intense criticism of events, Plainsong, the creator of Joyland Festival has organized this festival to its fullest potential. They did not disappoint their audience by meeting some of their expectations. Moreover, they made this festival family-friendly, so that people could bring their kids and enjoy the experience together. Youngsters and music enthusiast could enjoy performances at Lily Pad stage, curated by the famous Orbitware and The Secret Agents, featuring artists such as Celina, Mairakilla, Rub of Rub, and even Gozal. The Shroom Stage featured big-name comedians which curated by Soleh Solihun, while the Plainsong stage showcase several performances such as Barasuara, Bloodmoon, and Black Country New Road from the United Kingdom.

Recently, our team had an opportunity to attend Joyland and came up with a couple of insights from the festival. Here are our thoughts:
A Well-Curated and Festive Line-Ups
Presents Phoenix, Black Midi, Black Country New Road, M.I.A, and other acts, this festival in Indonesia provided a diverse lineup. For the first time in Indonesia, Black Country New Road brought their thrilling performance to the audience. The performers were well-balanced, allowing the audience to enjoy every act without a doubt. Attendees had the opportunity to expand their knowledge of music and festival experiences through the diverse lineup, which catered to all music listeners.

Perfectly Seasoned and Safe Space for Every Audience
The decorations, art installations, and interactive booths made the audience feel alive. The DJ entertainment provided by Guinness featuring Gero, Ryo Wicaksono, and other DJs successfully got the attendees moving their hips. Additionally, families with their kids could also enjoy other entertainment options such as interactive booths and art installations, which provided great memorable opportunities.
Introducing a Community for a Larger Radius
Plainsong collaborated with Orbitware and The Secret Agents to bring excitement to the Lily Pad stage. Orbitware, as one of the well-known communities in Bali with a club music culture, was able to fully showcase their passion to the audience. This collaboration was successful in introducing and providing a platform for local communities with the same goal, which is to liven up Joyland.

Creating a New Perspective on the Creative Industries
In an era where events are often criticized, Plainsong were able to prove that there is a festival that can meet expectations. They demonstrated that Joyland can bring together all segments of society, from local and international communities to families looking for fun. This is a great turning point and provides a new opportunity for creative industry players who work in event management, as there is a greater purpose behind the festival.
