The Museum of Modern Art or commonly abbreviated as MoMA is one of the most famous and influential modern art museums in the world. This museum, located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, United States, has an extraordinary collection of modern and contemporary art. Starting from architectural and design works, paintings, sculptures, photography, screenprints, illustrations, films, and electronic media.
At first, the creation of the Museum of Modern Art was the idea of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and his two friends, Lillie P. Bliss and Mrs. Cornelius J. Sullivan in 1928. They felt they needed to challenge the conservative policies of traditional museums and to establish an institution devoted to modern art. In 1929 assisted with A. Conger Goodyear, Paul Sachs, Frank Crowninshield, and Josephine Boardman Crane founded the Museum of Modern Art. Alfred H. Barr, Jr. as founding director through this museum aims to understand and enjoy visual arts.
For 10 years after the establishment of the museum, it got a positive response from the public and during those 10 years it has moved 3 times to a bigger place. Expansion during the 1950s and 1960s was planned by architect Philip Johnson. In 1984, there was a major renovation designed by Cesar Pelli.
The diverse collections in the Museum of Modern Art are a sight to behold and awe for many visitors. Initially this museum did not have a large collection, but over time the collection finally grew. Around 200,000 collections consisting of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, media and performing arts works, architectural models and drawings, design objects, and films are in this museum. In addition, MoMA also has a library with 320,000 collections consisting of books, artist books, magazines, and extensive individual files on more than 90,000 artists. The museum archive contains the history of MoMA and modern and contemporary art.

In 2006, MoMA completed a major construction project designed by Yoshio Taniguchi. The project nearly doubled the space for MoMA’s exhebition and programs.
