Kungfu Kenny has finally spoken: Kendrick Lamar announces new album, just less than a week after the fifth anniversary of DAMN, Kendrick’s third LP.
A few months back Kendrick teased what’s going to be his final TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) album on a new website oklama.com, with a note that ends with an “oklama” signature. Does this mean we will see Kendrick working under a new moniker from this point on?
As a follow-up, last night Kendrick announced that the new album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, will arrive on May 13. The press release to the album was shared through the oklama website as well as Kendrick’s personal Instagram. βAll factual information for this release will come directly from this source only,β as stated in the press.
Meanwhile, Kendrickβs Twitter was found while quote-retweeting a tweet from Feb. 13 by a rap enthusiast, raptalksk, that reads βKendrick Lamar is officially retired.β with a link to his oklama website. Is it yet another proclamation that he’s now officially oklama, FKA Kendrick Lamar, or is it just a rebuttal to prove that he’s not retired? Anyway the album is now being one of the most discussed topics all over social media.
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers will arrive on May 13, on TDE.
