Nut, a hardcore band from Bandung, is back with their new single, now presented in the form of a lyric video titled ‘Cannibalism Self Defense,’ released on Friday, June 2, 2023. The release of this single also signifies that they are now under the banner of Greedy Dust.
They depict the narrative in their latest song through one of Rockstar’s most famous game releases of all time, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. They have chosen this approach because this particular video game is quite accessible for exploration, enabling Nut to create the desired visual presentation with a chaotic concept set in an urban backdrop.
“Cannibalism Self Defense” serves as their prediction regarding the ongoing occurrence of ‘cannibalism’ in urban environments. Of course, not in the literal sense, the term ‘cannibal’ becomes a metaphor to depict the phenomenon of individuals consuming each other’s rights in order to satisfy their own needs under the pretext of “survival.” The release of “Cannibalism Self Defense” also signifies their growing proximity to their (mini) album, which is planned to be released this year in collaboration with Greedy Dust.
