Patio is a tiny coffee hub (or joint, as they imply) located at the end of the lot that splits Kramat Gantung and Jalan Pahlawan. Right before a park that is a part of Alun-Alun Contong, the area was once a monumental spot that once witnessed the existence of the Keraton Surabaya.

Initiated by two teenagers who have been in the coffee brewing scene for quite some time but never found their moment until Patio, which finally opened earlier this year. Patio serves a variety of brewed drinks, as well as snacks, especially bagels, provided by Beguru Bagel.
I asked a customer named Allif about Patioβs menu. βTheyβve got well-crafted filtered coffee here, with various choices of beans from local to imported,β said Allif, who is also a cuisine enthusiast. βNot to mention their complex mocktails that you can sip and savor, well-served and also stunning to look at.β He added.
I am personally a fan of both of their signature refreshments, Pinyata and Felicia. The former mixes coconut water and pineapple while the latter is a hibiscus cold brew tea paired with rosella syrup. It tastes even better while looking at Patio’s playground, especially when Surabaya gets a little cloudy.

The park in front of the Patio is filled with playground equipment such as seesaw, slide, and swing, among others, which may inadvertently awaken our inner child when being around. While the inside of Patio is rather tiny. In fact, it is pretty narrow. However, the narrow space that they offer actually brings warmth to their customers to interact with each other.
One of the best things about Patio is how the place really lives up to its name. In English, Patio refers to a paved outdoor area adjoining a house. While in Spanish Patio means ‘playground.’ Uniquely, Patio’s outdoor area has both functions.
Patio is suitable and very accessible for those of you who need a short stop to unwind, or a playground to restore sanity, or just a space to seek intimacy with friends.
