Virgil’s art, design, and fashion are all included in this exhibition, which the Brooklyn Museum describes as a look into his vast artistry. It means we can expect works ranging from Off-White to Louis Vuitton and everything in between. From July 1, 2022 to January 29, 2023, you will be able to experience Brooklyn Museum for yourself. It is the first travel retrospective since the designer passed away, as MCA’s exhibition was the first dedicated to his work.
In November, the fashion industry was shocked and heartbroken to hear Virgil Abloh’s passing after battling rare cancer. Louis Vuitton hosted the “Virgil Was Here” exhibition in Miami in tribute to the pioneering artist, featuring his last Spring/Summer show as well as new pieces.
In January, Louis Vuitton’s final show debuted at Paris Fashion Week, complete with a monogrammed Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1, celebrating the designer’s FW22 collection. Again, musical vibrations elevated the creative’s spirit, thanks to Tyler the Creator.
It will be Virgil Abloh’s most innovative spectacle yet, overflowing with Virgil’s creative essence, if the museum’s “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” exhibit is any indication.
